Liz and Matt met playing kickball at Goodale Park. Liz signed up with a few of her friends (solely to meet a boy of course, not to improve her stellar kickball skills) and it happened to be Matt’s team that she joined. She knew by his opening swing (and a miss ;)) that their team wasn’t going to the championship, but it didn’t matter. Matt had caught her eye…and all the balls that came her way, because obviously kickball was not her main focus.
From there it took a minute for him to muster the courage to ask her out, because let’s face it, he thought she was just adorable! Their first official date consisted of a wonderful night out at Easton. They wined and dined at The Cheesecake Factory, and just when Liz thought the dinner portion of the night was over, Matt proceeded to order a piece of cheesecake to go. Sold! The man has a sweet tooth! After dinner they went to see a chick flick movie that neither of them can stand to this day, but what the hey. On a side note, Liz and Matt discovered that they both went to Bowling Green State University for virtually the same 4 years and graduated together…crazy! They never met each other while at college, although they probably passed one another walking through campus, or argued with one another at a local bar, trying to buy a shot. In other words, it’s probably for the best that they met over a big red kickball ;).
After that first date and spending much time together, they realized that they share so much in common: the love for the Buckeyes, running and staying active, spending time with family and friends, dining out for no apparent reason, etc. But on a more serious note, they realized that they both wanted to make church an important part of their life, had common career goals, and both want to have a big family! Haha, ok just kidding, maybe 2 kids…or 3 if Liz has her way ;). Seems simple, but when you know…you know. And Matt knew, and on June 15, 2012 he got down on one knee and popped the question!
Liz and Matt were married at Station 67, one of the last remaining original Toledo & Ohio Railway stations in Central Ohio. They opted to have a first look at North Bank Park before the ceremony so that they could have just a few minutes together and get rid of all of the pre-wedding jitters before the party started. We love doing first looks because not only did they get to have some time together, but we were also able to get most of the pictures out of the way before the ceremony, allowing them to spend more time with their friends and family afterward! The day ended up being quite warm, but these guys were absolutely radiant despite the heat, and luckily Liz’s sisters had put together a little emergency kit complete with a fan…which definitely came in handy!
Loved all of the beautiful florals by Beth from Bloomtastic!Look at these guys! You couldn’t find a better looking pair 😉Can’t forget the shoes…just a touch of blue 🙂Liz once made a wager with her brother-in-law that she wouldn’t be married until she was at least 30, and if she did, he got to wear a powder blue suit to the wedding. Well, not wanting to cause a scene during the ceremony, he decided to surprise her and change into this beautiful suit during the toasts, and surprise her he did! 🙂
A huge thank you to all of the people that made Liz and Matt’s wedding day amazing!
